At Aegis, we believe that every worker deserves fairness, dignity, and opportunity at work – no barriers, no exceptions. That’s why we’ve launched Work Without Barriers, a campaign that puts neurodiversity inclusion at the heart of our union’s work.
You might be scared to ask what neurodiversity is. Put simply, it means recognising that people’s brains work in different ways. This includes conditions like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette’s and more.
Neurodivergent people are already part of our workplaces. They are our colleagues, our teammates, our friends. But too often, they face unnecessary barriers that can make working life harder.
These barriers can be as simple as unclear communication, noisy environments, rigid working hours, or recruitment processes that focus more on how people fit into old systems than on what they can contribute. That’s where our campaign comes in.
Work Without Barriers is about changing things for the better. It’s about creating fairer, more inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive.
The campaign focuses on raising awareness, challenging myths, and working with employers to make meaningful changes. We’re pushing for fair recruitment, flexible practices, and supportive environments.
And we’re asking every union member to get involved, because inclusion isn’t just for reps or managers. It’s something we can all play a part in.
Over the coming months, you’ll see resources, toolkits, webinars and stories that help us break down these barriers together. Inclusion helps all of us – stronger teams, better wellbeing, and workplaces where people can be themselves.
Let’s work together to build workplaces where no one is left behind.
