Mental Health Awareness Training for Staff

Aegis Union Learning organised Mental Wellbeing sessions in December 2017 for managers. Upon all the positive feedback we received from the participants we have adapted these sessions to be aimed at staff; sessions have become shorter, but with lots of practical information for you.

Research shows that more than 50% of UK employees have suffered from mental health problems at work. Those who are supported by their managers are much more likely to work productively, interact well with colleagues and adapt to changes in the workplace.

Many managers, including our executive sponsors of Diversity & Inclusion Gill Scott and Mark Till, have already attended sessions. Gill, Mark and Managers feedback has been extremely positive, and they are supportive of building the mental health awareness campaign further. The sessions in Edinburgh are taking place on:

* Wednesday 21 November: 11.30 – 13.00 – VDR – 1

* Wednesday 21 November: 14.00 – 15.30 – VDR - 1

* Wednesday 28 November: 14.00 – 15.30 – Conference room

* Wednesday 19 December :14.00 – 15.30 – Conference Room

The session will help you gain a greater awareness of mental health in the workplace and will better equip you to support both individuals and other people in your life. Please book your slot by emailing

Please make every effort to attend when you’re booked on a course as there’s little chance you will be able to book into another session. If you are unable to attend, please provide as much notice as possible to allow others to book. Places are limited to 20 per session and are offered on a first come, first served basis. We look forward to seeing you there!

“A member could come and talk to me about anything that might be on their mind, even if it's just to get something off their chest.”
