What exactly happens when I call the Aegis Legal Services helpline?
By ringing the free helpline telephone number, you will be put through directly to one of Thompsons experienced call handlers.
Providing you ring within the designated hours, you will always speak to a call handler in the first instance, and never be connected to an answerphone or have to navigate through a complex and time-consuming “press star twice” navigation system.
The call handler will then ask for your name and contact details, your staff number, and brief details of your query. Your details are then passed on to a qualified solicitor – if one is not available to speak to you immediately, the call handler will inform you of this and you will be called back by a solicitor within 24 hours. (This does not include weekends.)
I think I’d rather email them. I don’t want my colleagues to overhear me on the phone.
By completing their contact form on-line your query will be receive directly by Thompsons Scotland. Both internet and telephone queries are welcome, but a solicitor will only respond to you by telephone, at a mutually convenient time. The form you send does not go through Aegis, AEGON UK, or any other third party. It goes only to Thompsons, therefore guaranteeing confidentiality.
It’s just general advice I’m looking for. I don’t really need to speak to anyone.
Please see the Thompsons NI website for more general legal advice. In addition, the website of Thompsons Solicitors in England has an extensive library of information in PDF format primarily intended for those seeking guidance about specific issues. Although Scots Law differs in many respects from English and Welsh law, these leaflets are a very good starting point when you wish to research a legal problem you may have, yet you don’t feel the need to speak to a solicitor about.
The leaflets cover issues including:
Commitment to Quality
Each area of law is becoming increasingly specialised and complex, and Thompsons Scotland can provide advice to Aegis members and their famlies by specialists in each particular area of the law.
Thompsons Scotland will constantly monitor, control and check that the service is running smoothly and efficiently.
Each member who uses the system will be called back to ask for their assessment of the service. If the member cannot be contacted by telephone, then a questionnaire will be sent out by post. These assessments have greatly assisted in ascertaining the need and demand of members for such legal advice. The service is dynamic, and Thompsons Scotland and Aegis are always looking for ways in which to improve it.
If any member has any queries or is unhappy with any aspect of the service provided by Thompsons Scotland, please contact either the Aegis office staff or Sharon Sinnott, Thompsons Scotland’s Advice Line Co-Ordinator, who will be happy to assist. Any complaints beyond this are to be addressed to Frank Maguire, Thompsons Solicitors, 285 Bath Street, Glasgow G2 4HQ.
