Assistant General Secretary
The role of the Assistant General Secretary is as follows:
- accountability for business area activity for Corporate Business and Sales, ensuring adherence to consultative practice and protocol; ensuring regular meetings with Representatives and management take place and constitutional requirements are met
- case work – ensure Reps in this part of the business are utilised and supported in carrying out representation of our members (avoiding personal involvement as stages 1 and 2 where practicable)
- build relationships and network with management, Business Partners, and Human Resources Consultants
- external relationships and lobbying – building strategic relationships externally, evolving through FISO (Federation of Insurance Staff Organisations), Network Partnership, and any other identifiable opportunities
- communication – providing written reports on activity as a formal record and for possible adaption for internet/intranet publication
- enhancement of the Aegis reputation – it is vital to be viewed in a positive light by partner organisations, unions, and management
- training and development of the Corporate Business and Sales Aegis Representatives
- Visit each branch at least twice per year
