Assistant General Secretary, Aegis

What does your job with Aegis actually involve?
Being the Assistant General Secretary I am responsible for casework allocation, membership database including mapping, managing the Aegis mailbox and looking after our members in Sales and Distribution although I am often involved in other consultations, negotiations, and general casework.

What do you like best about it?
I enjoy the varied parts to my role and getting out of the office and visiting the members and potential members in the various offices around the country.

What do you think makes you good at it?
I believe that at Aegis we can make a difference and I enjoy a challenge but most importantly listening to what the members are saying and working out how to act on it.

How can you use this strength to benefit/help our members?
Coming from an IFA background, I have a real understanding of the constantly change and pressures our members are faced with our business sector.

What's the most important thing about being a union Rep as far as you're concerned?
To ensure that members are treated fairly and that a consistent message from Aegis benefits the majority.
