What does your job with AEGON involve?
I work in the Corporate Team providing support to Consultants, IFAs and Head Office. This can vary from obtaining deals for new schemes to providing quotes and securing the business.
What do you like best about it?
Having worked for AEGON for 16 years in both Head Office and the Regional Sales Centre, I can truly say there is never a dull moment! The RSC is always buzzing, it’s great, I love it. To me, the communication and customer service we provide is a key factor in the retention of our clients and business.
What do you think makes you good at it?
Every day is different and I like that. We face tough challenges ahead with changes in legislation, current market conditions and RDR making it very challenging but this is what drives me and gives me the determination to be successful.
How can you use this strength to benefit/help our members?
I am a very analytical person and like to be successful so I look at all angles and options available - I believe this benefits the members I help and support, as well as our external customers. I believe in standing up for people’s rights and helping their voices be heard.
What's the most important thing about being a union Rep as far as you're concerned?
You have to be good at listening and not judgemental, you have to know what you are talking about, when, what, where. Be honest and most of all be realistic.
