Aegis Representatives

About our Reps

Aegis Representatives are elected by the members that they represent, being the staff of the AEGON UK group of companies.

We ensure that Aegis members have access to all the help, information and guidance they need regarding issues such as working conditions, pay, health and safety, equal opportunities and employment law.

We are a dedicated and hard-working group of people of all ages, all backgrounds and in all sorts of positions throughout the AEGON UK group of companies.

Aegis Reps come from all walks of life but they do have one thing in common - a powerful sense of justice. No one wants to see anyone treated unfairly.

The Aegis Representatives work together solely to ensure Aegis members are treated fairly and with respect. We do this in many different ways.

Our policy specialists work with our HR colleagues to ensure AEGON UK's policies are the best they can be. Our tactical specialists deal with the day-to-day practical issues. We set up working groups to tackle specific projects and we set up negotiating teams for such issues as pay awards, outsourcing, and anything else which can affect your working conditions.

We also send Representatives to conferences throughout the country and to meetings with other organisations such as the FSA and other unions.

And of course we all receive training and refresher courses to make sure we give you, our member, the best service we can.

Could YOU be an Aegis Rep?

Being a Rep means that you have the desire and the means to do something about it. Becoming an Aegis Rep opens a door to a new world.

You will receive training in employment law from our own in-house trainers and elsewhere. You will also gain skills such as listening, negotiating, and influencing people which will prove useful in a surprising number of circumstances.

Furthermore, you will gain a much wider understanding of how AEGON UK works. You will get the opportunity to interact with other organisations and meet with people from other unions. You will get the opportunity to travel to offices throughout the country and to such venues as the TUC.

You may find yourself in consultations and negotiations with members of the AEGON UK executive, or speaking to a school-leaver on probation. But most importantly you will find that you belong in a group of like-minded people who help each other to make sure that their colleagues are treated fairly and with respect.
