about us
Aegis exists for only one reason: to look after the interests of our members, who all work for the AEGON UK group of companies.
Our aim
Our aim is to represent our members by trying to make their working lives at AEGON UK as pleasant and rewarding as possible.
In order to be provided with rewarding careers, we need to work for a successful and ambitious employer. In order for the business to be successful we need to employ and retain talented people. Our job is to look after your pay and conditions with this knowledge firmly in focus.
"Overall packages" are not just pay and holidays, but rather the whole offering: security, development, training, opportunity, good management and leadership, as well as fun. If people enjoy their work and feel they are being treated fairly, they will be good at it. If they are treated with respect and trust they will return it.
Our mission
Our mission is to “transform Aegis into a modern independent trade union whilst preserving the qualities our members value”.
How are we going to do this?
Our strategic goals
- Deliver a consistently high quality service through our network of Representatives
- Revolutionise the way we communicate
- Increase our membership to 85% of eligible staff
- Build our external profile through new and existing channels
- Be financially placed to fund our own trade union activities
- Develop our administration capability to achieve Aegis goals
Our consultants
We also work very closely with our trade union consultants, Network Partnership, to ensure we meet all our obligations as an independent trade union.
Their senior partner, Michael Radcliffe, has been appointed as a trade union official with Aegis to ensure our Reps are trained thoroughly and coached for the challenges ahead.
